R. Duane Kraft 1929 - 2014

WICHITA — R. Duane Kraft, 85, died Dec. 30. He was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Salina, to Leo and Edna Kraft. At an early age, the family moved to Hoisington where Duane attended local schools. Upon graduation, he proudly served in the 216th Chemical Division of the U.S. Army. Following his service, he returned to Hoisington where he worked with his father in the family business, Kraft Shoe Store. He later worked and retired from Kansas Brick & Tile as a salesman.
Duane was a longtime member of the Hoisington Volunteer Fire Department, served several terms on the Hoisington City Council and was an early member of the Hoisington Auxiliary Police Department.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delores; daughters, Marilyn Wallace of Goddard and Carolyn (Bob) Downey of Cheney; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Wayne Alan and Daniel Mark; and son-in-law, Larry Wallace.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Greenwood Cemetery.  A memorial has been established with the Hoisington Volunteer Fire Department. Share condolences at www.CozineMemorial.com. Services by Broadway Mortuary.
