LIBERAL — Ramon Hernandez, 91, formerly of Great Bend, passed away on Oct. 1 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.  He was born on June 10, 1923, at Los Alamos de San Antonio, Ojinaga, Mexico. On Nov. 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Eloisa Tercero at Ojinaga, Mexico. The family moved to Great Bend in 1991. Ramon enjoyed reading and music and was an outdoors person who loved gardening. He was known as a very happy person.
Mr. Hernandez was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include three sons, Adan Hernandez and his wife, Gloria, of Great Bend, Olevy Hernandez and his wife, Elida, of Sublette, and Juan Ramon Hernandez and his wife, Ericka, of Liberal; four daughters, Teodora Hernandez and her husband, Pedro of Great Bend, Eva Villareal and her husband, Javier, of Liberal, Elia Rubio and her husband, Candelario, of Great Bend, and Mayra Sanchez and her husband, Daniel, of Great Bend; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Raul Hernandez of Odessa, Texas, Andrez Hernandez and Gilberto Hernandez, both of Ojinaga, Mexico, and Librado Hernandez and his wife, Licha, of Ulysses. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Eloisa Hernandez on June 7, 1995.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 3, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend with Father Don Bedore officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.
