OTIS — Raymond E. Pierce, 78, died Oct. 3 at St. Johns Health Center in Hays. Born Feb. 15, 1934 in Thomas County, he was the son of Orvel and Glenna (Stokes) Pierce. A former resident of the Morland area, he was a driller in the oilfield.
Mr. Pierce was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include his son, Dean (Tanya) Pierce of LaCrosse; a daughter, Melissa (Steve) Holder of Topeka; a brother, Walter Pierce of Jackson, Mo. three sisters, Marjorie Wineland of Hays, Donna Metcalf of Nixa, Mo. and Iva Boyer; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Velna Pesicka, Clyta Mae Erickson, Rosemary Burns and Delores Lines; and a brother, Richard Pierce.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Stinemetz Funeral Home in Hill City with the Rev. Judith Stricker officiating. Burial will be at the Morland City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Morland United Methodist Church.
