Raymond K. Morgan, 81, of Great Bend, died Oct. 13 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born May 21, 1929, at Arkansas City, the son of James and Allie (King) Morgan. He married Irene Emily Elliott on May 23, 1949, at Arkansas City. Ray and Irene have resided in GReat Bend since 1950, coming here from Arkansas City. Ray worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a freight operator. He was a longtime employee of Larry’s Garden Center. He then retired from the City of Great Bend Park Department after 22 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, attending area sports events, and coffee with friends at the local coffee shop. Ray always appreciated a good joke.

Survivors include his wife, Irene EMily, of the home; six sons, Ken Morgan and wife JOdy of Valdez, Alaska, Dan Morgan and wife Joan of Durham, N.C., Russ Morgan and wife Ronda of El Dorado, Kim Morgan and wife Patty of Owasso, Okla., David Morgan and wife Angel of Ellinwood and John MOrgan and wife Kayleen of Buhler; four daughters, Orlena Allen and husband Skip of Stafford, Nona Smith and husband Chuck and LIsa Morgan and husband Stan Allison, all of Great Bend, and Rose Barton and husband Bob of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Morgan and Joe Morgan, and one sister, Sarah Grimes.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Moser officiant. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m . Thursday at the funeral home. Donations to a memorial fund for Hospice Care of Kansas may be made in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
