ELLINWOOD — Reba N. Richter, 85, of Ellinwood, formerly of Great Bend, passed away at the Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood on Monday morning, Sept. 17. Born on July 21, 1927 in Great Bend, she was the daughter of James and Hazel (Selle) Christensen. She attended school in Great Bend, where she was a resident for most of her life. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Virgil Richter, they later divorced.  In years past, Reba worked for Bell Telephone as an operator for several years and later worked for Fuller Brush Company for a number of years. She enjoyed raising sheep.
Over the years she attended both the First United Methodist and the First Assembly of God churches in Great Bend.
Survivors include her daughter, Ginger Riordan of Great Bend; and three grandchildren, Erin, Evan, and Hunter Riordan. Reba was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hazel (Selle) Christensen; her former husband Virgil Richter; her daughter, Anita Fitzgerald in 1960; her son, Jeffrey Richter in 1963; and one sister, Oletha Wendt.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, with Pastor Dwight Dozier officiating. Inurnment will be at the Lakin Commanche District Cemetery at Ellinwood. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has already taken place. Memorials may be made to the Barton County Relay for Life in care of the funeral home.
