ORMOND BEACH Fla. — Reita A Dorei Powell, 80, died Sept. 21, 2016, at Ormond Beach, Fla. Born Oct. 18, 1935, in Mclouth, she was the daughter of Harold McAferty and Louise Boutwell McAferty. On Aug. 29, 1954, She married William Dorei at McLouth. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1993. She married Donald Powell on May 16, 1994. She was a McLouth resident and then a 20 year resident of Ormond-By-the-Sea. She was active in farming until 1993.
Mrs. Dorei-Powell was active in United Methodist Church activities, 4-H, Eastern Star, and the 99s Women Pilots Organization.
Survivors include, her husband Don Powell of the home; two daughters Linda (Wayne) Jones of Lenexa and Rhonda (Jeffrey) Brozek of Great Bend; a son, Rick (Susie) Dorei of Mclouth; four grandchildren, Robert Michael Robinson of Eudora, Jason Brozek of Lawrence, Jessica
Brozek of Mission, and Megan Dorei of Lawrence; and stepdaughter, Cheri Powell of Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Dorei; three brothers, Edgar, Roy, and Elmer McAferty; and one stepson, Ron Powell.
Services were held at Ormond Beach United Methodist Church on Sept. 24, and also at Mclouth United Methodist Church on Sept. 29. Burial was at McLouth Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church of McLouth or Shriners Hospital.
