Reverend Victor Charles Unruh

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Reverend Victor Charles Unruh, age 85, went to his heavenly home on Dec. 5, 2023 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center, Palm Harbor, Fla. He was born in Great Bend, Kan. on July 4, 1938, to Ira and Ella (Ward) Unruh. In Stamford, Conn., he married his college sweetheart, Margaret Rose Ashcroft on Sept. 9, 1961. They met at Central Bible Institute and had 62 years of marriage together.

Victor was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He and his wife, Marge, ministered in many churches in Kansas and Iowa for over 45 years. His passion for churches was to see others not only come to the Lord for salvation, but also to become a disciple of the Lord. He had a determined heart which gave him a vision to see the churches under his care become a viable part of the community through bus ministry, youth group activities, and building projects.

After moving to Florida, he became a real estate agent and used his talents to see others find their next home. Many knew him for his laughter and fun, pithy phrases like “What a deal” or “Keep the love flowing.” What he really wanted others to know him for was his consistent and faithful love for his Savior. Victor’s favorite scripture was II Chronicles 26:5. It says this, “...As long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.”

He is survived by his children, Laurie Madsen (Kent) of Montgomery, Ill., and Cheri Stancer (Robb) of Livonia, Mich.; five grandchildren, Kailea Leal (Isai), Brianna Stancer, Kameron Stancer, Kirsten Madsen and Trey Madsen; two great granddaughters Adelina and Raya Leal; and two brothers, Paul Unruh and Phillip Unruh. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret; his mother and father, Ira and Ella (Ward) Unruh; and his brother, Loren Unruh.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Encounter Church in Great Bend, Kan.
