GREAT BEND – Richard A. Haines, 62, died Aug. 21, 2014 at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
Richard was born Dec 29, 1951 in El Dorado, the son of Paul and Lucille (Cobbler) Haines.
He married Linda DeWerth on July 4, 2003 in Great Bend. Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He touched many lives over the years in the medical field working as a registered nurse. He spent his time enjoying the outdoors and taking care of his birds. He also served as a sponsor for local AA programs.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Cook) Haines; his mother, Lucille Haines; sons, Michael (Mitzi) Haines and Kirk DeWerth; daughters, Jessica Harris, Rachel Polaikis, Leah Allison (Kyle), Melissa (Tom) Rodriguez, Tina DeWerth; brother, Steve (Diane) Haines. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren and ex-wives, Kim Jordan and Brenda Stangle.
He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Haines and father-in-law, William M. Cook.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Larned with Rev. Dick Ogle presiding. Burial will take place 3 p.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
