Richard D. Bandit Owen 1946 - 2013

OGALLAH — Richard D. “Bandit” Owen, 67, died Sept. 14, at his home. Born Feb. 24, 1946, in Monahans, Texas, he was the son of William Thomas and Catherine (McNett) Owen. On June 23, 1973, he married Beverly Combs, in Conroe, Texas. She passed away April 1, 2008. On Aug. 15, 2009, Richard married Clarese Mong, in Ogallah. She survives. Richard was a welder and truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Clarese of Ogallah; three children Ramsey D. Owen of Hays, George T. Owen of Bison, and Teresa C. Bruce of Hoisington; two brothers Carroll Owen of Hoisington and George Owen of Warrenton, Calif.; two sisters Betty Lipton and Shirley Conrad of Atwood; a sister-in-law Barbara Owen of Seward; and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife (Beverly); two sons William J. Owen and Michael K. Owen; a brother Billy Grant Owen; and a grandson Seth Contreras.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at the Ogallah Christian Church. Burial will be at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Stafford County. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Memorial are suggested to the Richard D. Owen Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
