HUTCHINSON — Richard (Dick) Alan Eberhart, 75, passed away Aug. 4, 2016, in Hutchinson. Dick was a faith-filled man who lived a full life of love, family, work, golf and the Royals. Dick was born Nov. 9, 1940, the son of Homer and Laura (Knop) Eberhart of Ellinwood. He had two older siblings, Janet Robinson and husband Ronald and the late Jerry Eberhart. He went on to marry the love of his life, Betty Schuyler of Winfield on June 27, 1964. Dick and Betty have two daughters, Dianna Rottinghaus and husband Brian of Overland Park and Deborah Willems and husband Tim of Hutchinson, and a son, Michael Eberhart (deceased 1968); brother-in-law, Rick Schuyler and wife Trish; sisters-in-law, Connie Smith, Marie Eberhart, and the late Judy Martindale. Their home is often filled with their four grandchildren; Laura Rachelle Drescher and husband Bryan, Amanda DeJesus, Jack Rottinghaus, and Abe Rottinghaus.
Dick graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1958 and Kansas State University in 1963. He was a CPA, who practiced in Hutchinson for many years. He worked for the Hutchinson National Bank from 1966 to 1987, Financial Planning & Consulting Services from 1987 to 1990, Investment America, Inc. from 1991 to 1995, and Investment Centers of America, Inc. from 1995 to 2011. He enjoyed his retirement doing volunteer work and playing golf.
Dick and Betty are current members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and past members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson where he served on several church boards. Dick was an active member of the Accounting Club of Hutchinson and the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas State Wildcats.
Memorial service was be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Ave, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Organizations that were important to Dick include Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and The Blue Door Project (KC). Memorial donations may be directed accordingly or to a charity of choice, in care of the funeral home.
