HOISINGTON — Richard K. McGinnis, 84, died Nov. 20 at his residence in Hoisington. Born Sept. 10, 1927 in rural Barton County, he was the son of Edman E. and Lena Gray (Ruble) McGinnis. In October 1953, he married Shirley L. Trauer at Sylvia. A resident of Hoisington since 1953, he was a grader/maintenance operator for Eureka Township and a heavy equipment operator for the State of Kansas and Prosser Dirt Construction. He loved hunting, especially pheasants and quail.

Mr. McGinnis was a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren and a 4-H leader.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley L. McGinnis, of the home; a son, Rick McGinnis of Hoisington; a daughter, Kathy McGinnis of Hoisington; a sister, Alta Mae Hedrick of Potwin; and three grandchildren, Kelsey Brianne McGinnis, Chance Lee McGinnis and Samuel Cody McGinnis.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at the Walnut Valley Cemetery in Eureka Township in Barton County. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., today and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Archery Shooting Sports 4-H in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
