Rita Lynn Scheideman, age 60, of Great Bend, Kan., passed away Oct. 11, 2022, at her home.
Rita was born on Nov. 18, 1961, to Herbert Edward Kerr and Lynda Lou (Walls) Kerr. At 10 years old, she was adopted by her stepfather, Thomas R. Weber. She arrived in Great Bend from her hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas in 1988. She stayed in Great Bend until 1992, when she finished her education to become a Registered Nurse. On Oct. 3, 1992, she married the love of her life, Bradley Ray Scheideman in Wichita, Kan. In 1994, two important events happened for Rita: she moved back to Great Bend, where she would spend the rest of her life, and Bradley adopted her three children, David Ray, Christopher Lee and Shannon Diane. She was proud of the adults their kids grew up to be.
Rita worked as a Registered Nurse in and around Great Bend for around 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Bradley Ray Scheideman of Great Bend; sons, David Ray Scheideman of Reno, Nev., and Christopher Lee Scheideman and wife, Amber, of Great Bend; daughter, Shannon Diane Unruh and husband, Grant, of Great Bend; grandchildren, Emily Scheideman, Hailey Peterson, Aaron Scheideman, Kendra Scheideman, Gage Peterson and Kaylee Scheideman; sisters, Robin Weber of Dallas, Texas, and Betty Ham of Wichita Falls, Texas; brother, Larry E. Weber of Bishop, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lynda Lou Weber; biological father, Herbert E. Kerr; adoptive father, Thomas R. Weber; father-in-law, Clair “Ray” Scheideman; and sister-in-law, Brenda Mason.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2021, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, with Barbara Gutsch presiding.
