Robert D. Hanhardt 1926 - 2017

LACROSSE — Robert D. Hanhardt, 90, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. 
Mr. Hanhardt was born Dec. 3, 1926, in rural Bison, the son of Clarence Clifford and Ella Effa (Gillig) Hanhardt. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1944 graduate of Bison High School he was a farmer before his retirement. Robert along with his brother Kenneth were co-owners of Hanhardt Accounting and Tax Service in La Crosse from 1957 to 2001. On July 18, 1948, he married Leona Ochs at the Baptist Church in Bison. She preceded him in death Nov. 9, 1992. On Dec. 11, 1993, he married Delores DeWald at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hays.
He was a member of the former Baptist Church in Bison and was a former board member of the Nekoma State Bank in Nekoma, and the Rush County Conservation District.
Survivors include, his wife, Delores Hanhardt, La Crosse; a son, Ron Hanhardt (Juanita), Otis; a daughter-in-law, Shelley Hanhardt, Sturgis, S.D.; a stepson, Mark DeWald (E. J.), Great Bend; a stepdaughter, Janice Huthoefer (Don), Sierra Vista, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Ryan Hanhardt, Murrieta, Calif., Joel Hanhardt (Cathy), Grovetown, Ala., Rita Hanhardt (Frank Church V), Shoreline, Wash., Jeffrey Hanhardt (Allie), Bison, Mandie Wood, Sturgis, S.D., Mark Hanhardt, Lead, S.D., and Amy Long (Daniel), Rapid City, S. D.; step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; one son, Jim Hanhardt (Dec. 29, 2015); twin grandsons, Matthew Hanhardt, and Luke Hanhardt; two brothers, Donald Hanhardt, and Kenneth Hanhardt; and one sister, Evelyn Bussart.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with Pastor Bruce Adamson officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery. Visitation will befrom 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials to the donor’s choice.
