ST. JOHN  — Robert D. Ives, age 87, passed away Dec. 16, 2020 at St. John, KS. He was born on Mar. 11, 1933 at St. John, KS, the son of Norman and Ethel (Burkhart) Ives. A lifelong resident of St. John, he was a retired oilfield manager and farmer. Memberships include Civil Air Patrol, Naval Reservist and a love for Ham radio, with a call sign of WA0AZA.

Robert loved family gatherings and had a passion for gardening, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

On Aug. 24, 1952 he married Carolyn (Smith) at Radium, KS., she survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Steve Ives, St. John, KS, Bradley (Donna) Ives, St. John, KS; a daughter, Kathleen (Brett) Ward, St. John, KS; a brother, Melvin Ives, Bountiful, UT; a sister, Betty Lyons, Nipomo, CA; 8 grandchildren, Valerie (Randall) Mawhirter, Stephen (Debbie) Ives, Kirk (Holly) Ives, Tara (Chuck) Outhier, Derrick (Cliffie) Ives, Shannon (Luke) Snyder, Matthew (Challie) Ward, Nathan (Tia) Ward; 23 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sanford, Charles, Walter, Paul and Willard; sisters, Louise Riggan and Irene Cole.  

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Memorials may be given to Kindred Hospice in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
