OLMITZ — Robert J. “Bobby” Ludwig, 54, died Oct. 16 at his home in Olmitz. Born Aug. 30, 1959, in Great Bend, he was the son of Robert G. and Marjorie L. (Debes) Ludwig. In 1978 he graduated from Hoisington High School. On Feb. 11, 1984, he married Veronica Bowden at Great Bend. A lifelong area resident, he was employed by Gerald Schneider construction and was employed by Kansas Brick and Tile for 23 years. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, working on his home, helping family and friends with harvest, running the road grader in Albion Township, and spending time with his family, especially his brother, Dennis.
Mr. Ludwig was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both in Hoisington.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica Ludwig of the home; his parents, Robert G. and Marjorie L. Ludwig of Hoisington; two sons, Justin Ludwig and his companion Jessica Dockendorf and Shawn Ludwig, both of Hoisington; one brother, Dennis R. Ludwig of Olmitz; four sisters, Susan Davis and her husband Keith of New Cambria, Loretta Riedl and her husband Bert of Great Bend, Mary Kaiser and her husband Kent of Bushton, and Robin Nicholson and her husband Brian of Windsor, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Jeri Henderson and her husband Bob of Cleveland, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Patrick Ludwig and George C. Ludwig; and grandparents, Joe and Mary Debes and Carl And Agnes Ludwig.
Evening service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz with celebrant Father Ultan Murphy. Burial will be at the Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids or St. Ann Catholic Church or Hoisington Church of the Nazarene, in care of the funeral home.
