Robert Lynn Baby Buffalo Rowley 1948 - 2013


HOLCOMB — Robert Lynn “Baby Buffalo” Rowley, 64, died Aug. 21, 2013 at his home in Holcomb.
Born Oct. 8, 1948 in Hoisington, he was the son of Robert G. and Darlene (Phillips) Rowley.
He grew up in Hoisington, where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1966. He attended Emporia State University before graduating from Salina Area Vo-Tech in 1968. He moved to Lyons, where he constructed landing gears for Boeing. In 1970, he moved to Holcomb. While living in Holcomb, he first worked for W.L. Hartman Oil Company, then owned and operated his own trucking company before becoming owner and operator of Rowley Pump Service. On Aug. 13, 1976, he married Arlene Rupp in Syracuse.  
Mr. Rowley was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Petroleum Institute, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where he served two terms as president and also served as a trustee. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; four children Richard and Bianca Rowley, Ingolstadt, Germany; Daena and Clifford Brown, Gatesville, Texas; Julie and Curt Nemechek, Holcomb; and Wayne and Kelly Combs, Garden City; his father, Robert G. Rowley, Lakin; a sister Becky and David Sells, Wilson; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and a brother-in-law LeRoy Rupp.
Vigil service and rosary was held Friday evening at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Funeral Mass was scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield. There will be no calling hours.
