GREAT BEND -- Robert V. Harders, 88, died July 3, 2013 at River Bend Assisted Living, Great Bend.
He was born Sept. 15, 1924 in Barton County, the son of Fred and Anna Margaret (Hemken) Harders.
Robert married Mildred L. LeRoy Nov. 7, 1944 in Wichita. A lifetime Barton County resident, Robert was a painter and decorator for many years and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, his church and family. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a church school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred L. Harders, of the home; three sons, James Harders and wife Mary Kay, Olathe; Ronald Harders and wife Nicki, Pawnee Rock; Brian Harders and wife Michelle, Ponca City, Okla.; a daughter, Sue Ware and husband Karl, Great Bend; two sisters, Marjorie Murphy, Great Bend; Gladys Brack, Great Bend; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by five brothers, Marion Harders, Martin Harders, Ralph Harders, Allen Harders, and Delmar Harders.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend with Rev. Dr. Scott Solether officiating. No visitation is scheduled, as cremation has taken place.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to Kans for Kids or First Presbyterian Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
