Robert Zane "Pete" Wilson, 78, died Jan. 23 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 21, 1932, at Glade, the son of Edward and Zela (Elliott) Wilson. He married Imogene Barnes on Jan. 2, 1953. They were later divorced. He was a carpenter for Albert Lumber Yard and later worked as a self-employed carpenter. He had been a Great Bend resident since 1998, coming from Ellinwood and Albert.
Mr. Wilson served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy.
He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was an avid reader and fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri Schettler and husband Mike of Great Bend, and Lori Stoneking of Blue Springs, Mo.; one brother, Donald Wilson and wife Dorothy of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Jayme Mayers and husband Jason of Great Bend, and Chad Huslig of Blue Springs, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Mayers, Alexandra Mayers, Logan Huslig and Rylee Huslig. He was preceded in death by one child brother, Danny Wilson.
Funeral service with Navy military honors will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. John Grummon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
