Rodger D. Love Sr., 63, died June 4 at River Bend Assisted Living, Great Bend. He was born June 21, 1947, at Stafford, the son of Gerald and Wanda (Ritter) Love. He was a graduate of Barton Community College. A Great Bend resident since 1965, coming from Larned, he was a delivery driver for UPS for 26 years.

He was U.S. Navy veteran during the Vietnam conflict. The ship on which Rodger was stationed recovered the Apollo 8 Spacecraft.

He was of the protestant faith.

He enjoyed his family, friends, westerns and the pursuit of his next vehicle purchase.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Wanda and Jesse Torrez of Great Bend; two sons, Ricky Love and wife Becky of Great Bend, and Rodger Love Jr. of Topeka; one daughter, Shannon Love and companion Marty Prester of Great Bend; one brother, Jack Love and wife Eileen of Great Bend; his companion, Joyce Rose of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Justin Love, Brandon Love, London Love-Prester, and Haven Love-Prester, all of Great Bend, and Jaden Love of Topeka; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Love; and one sister, Bonnie Powell.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the Rev. James A. Strasen officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery, with military honors by U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
