ELLINWOOD — Rodney Maurice Schwartz, 65, passed away in Ellinwood, Kan. on Sept. 15, 2022. Born on Jan. 15, 1957 in Ellinwood, Kan. he was the son of Rheinard and Joan (Henning) Schwartz. A lifetime Ellinwood resident Rodney graduated from Ellinwood High in 1975. He worked a variety of maintenance jobs including Lakin Comanche Cemetery. Rodney loved his family and pets and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the casinos.
Survivors include daughter, Angie Schwartz, Ellinwood, Kan.; sons, Zachary Schwartz and Jeremy Schwartz both of Ellinwood, Kan.; mother, Joan Schwartz, Chase, Kan.; brother, Curtis Schwartz, Chase, Kan.; five grandchildren, Shelbee, Dawson, Lakyn, Michelle, and Blayne; sisters, Florenda Standlee, Anita Christiensen (Max), Shirley Schwartz, Janice Simmons (Jim), Renee Kasselman (Pat); seven nieces; eight nephews; seven great nieces; and four great nephews. Rod was preceded in death by his father and brother, Jason Schwartz; nephew, Christopher Schwartz; and brother in laws Curtis Standlee; and Kim Maser.
Inurnment will take place Friday Sept. 23rd at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Great Bend, Kan. followed by a reception at St. Joseph parish hall in Ellinwood. Rosary will take place at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Thursday, Sept. 22nd at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family for funeral expenses or to be used towards education fund for grandchildren in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
