Roger D. Shuey

 

Roger D. Shuey, 75, died Feb. 14 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Nov. 15, 1935, in Herman, Neb., he was the son of Bert William and Bessie Gertrude (Long) Shuey. A Great Bend resident since 1950, coming from Petaluma, Calif., he was a truck driver for BOC. On Dec. 7, 1952, he married Marion "Mickie" Fulkerson in Great Bend.

Mr. Shuey was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Great Bend and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7428 Men’s Auxiliary in Hoisington.

Survivors include his wife, Marion "Mickie" Shuey of the home; four sons, Rick Shuey and wife Connie of Tioga, N.D., Ronald Shuey and wife Bev and Joe Shuey and wife Darla, all of Great Bend and Roger Shuey Jr., and companion Leslie Hanson of St. Joseph, Mo.; a daughter, Pamela Jean Shuey of Hoisington and companion Gordon Arnhold of Great Bend; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Bert Shuey; two brothers, Raymond "Art" Shuey and Richard "Slim" Shuey; a sister, Janice Neiman; and a granddaughter, Melissa Shuey.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Bryant Funeral Home with Gary Burke officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Levi Shuey Medical Fund in care of the funeral home.
