LARNED — Ronald D. Arnold, 87, passed away Nov. 15, 2021 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned.
He was born July 14, 1934 in Sanford, the son of John F. and Edna I. Firestone Arnold.
A lifetime area resident, he worked for the City of Larned for 32 years, retiring as the city manager. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Great Bend, Larned Noon Lions Club, Kansas Municipal Electric Association, president of the Kansas Municipal Utilities, and a Melvin Jones Fellowship recipient. He was in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957, serving two years in Japan.
On Aug. 17, 1957 he married Sharon Ault at Derby, she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, David (Jan) Arnold, Lenexa, Steven (Staci) Arnold, Park City; a daughter, Kay (Stephen) Schartz, Larned; three brothers, Jim Arnold, El Paso, Texas, John Arnold, Larned, Larry (Earlene) Arnold, Great Bend; two sisters, Marie Walker, El Paso, Texas, Ruth (Wendel) Bronson, Del Rio, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan K. Arnold; and a sister, Barbara Manka.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Reverend Joshua Leu presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 at Beckwith Mortuary with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Larned Cemetery.
