HOISINGTON — Rosalie Ann “Rose” Roper, 70, passed away on Nov. 20, 2022, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kan. She was born on April 25, 1952, in Great Bend, Kan., to Julius and Teresia (Zoth) Penka. On Jan. 2, 1992, she was married to Jim Roper in Denton, Texas. He survives.
An area resident for the past 20 years coming from Amarillo, Texas, Rosalie was a retired member of the United States Navy and the United States Army. She also worked for juvenile services, at VA Amarillo Health Care System, and most recently as a postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Otis and Olmitz. Rosalie was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband Jim Roper of the home; one son, Jeremy McKowski of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Tom (Bonita) Penka of Olmitz, Kan.; two sisters, Kathy (Gail) Brock of Great Bend, Kan., and Dorothy (Ron) Fercking of Hoisington, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dan Penka; and an infant sister, Mary Theresa.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Anselm Eke, MSP presiding.
