LA CROSSE — Rosanna Herrman, 89, formerly of Sylvan Grove, passed away Dec. 25, 2016, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born April 15, 1927, in Liebenthal she was the daughter of Michael and Frances (Kreutzer) Legleiter. She was baptized, received her First Holy Communion, and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Liebenthal. She also attended grade school at St. Joseph’s School in Liebenthal. On May 14, 1945, she married Balser “Bill” Herrman at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Liebenthal. He preceded her in death.
She had lived in La Crosse, Otis and Plainville and Sylvan Grove. In 2009, she moved to the Post Rock Apartments in Lincoln and in January 2014, she moved to Locust Grove Village, living there until the time of her death. She loved to sew, garden and cook. She started a machine quilting business and quilted thousands of quilts, baby quilts and other items for people throughout the United States.
Survivors include four sons, Patrick Herrman of Lincoln, David Herrman (Charlotte), of Salina, Jerald Herrman (Gayle), of Garden City, and John Herrman (Deborah), of Osborne; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nine step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Legleiter of La Crosse; and two sisters, Dorothy Roth of Derby, and Elsie Jacobs of Lakewood, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Samuel Herrman; one daughter-in-law, Lois Herrman; one great-grandson, Riley Anderson; three brothers, Gilbert Legleiter, Alvin Legleiter, and Paul Legleiter; and one sister, Cilerina “Sally” Kuhn.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse with Father Matthew Kumi officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s Church in Lincoln or Locust Grove Village in La Crosse.
