Rosemary Schmidt 1937 - 2013

HOISINGTON — Rosemary Schmidt, 76, died Nov. 9, at her home in Hoisington. Born April 7, 1937 in rural Barton County, she was the daughter of William and Beatrice (Karst) Cook.
On Nov. 8, 1958, she married Leonard Schmidt in Hoisington. In 1966, she moved from Hoisington to Hennessey, Okla. She has been a Hoisington resident since 2000. She was a loving and caring mother and wife. Rosemary absolutely loved and adored her husband, children, and grandchildren. Rosemary was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, oil painting, doll making, decorating her home, seamstress work, arts and crafts, and doing ceramics.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Schmidt of the home; one son, Steve Schmidt and wife Tamara of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Sandra Schmidt-Toney of Spring, Texas; one brother, Don Cook and wife Pat of Hoisington; one sister, Betty Hicks and husband Max of Hoisington; sister-in-law, Lorene Cook of McKinney, Texas; two grandchildren, Lantz Toney, Colton Toney, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, William Cook, Jr., and Gary Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Reverend Don Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at the Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids in care of the funeral home.
