Roxanna Lee (Finch) Schneider 1953 - 2013

Roxanna Lee (Finch) Schneider died Aug. 30 at her home in Great Bend. She was born Oct. 29, 1953, at Hays, to Robert M. and Betty Jean (Rubendall) Finch. Roxie was a graduate of Hays High School and also had a Fine Arts degree and at one time was an adjunct professor of design at Fort Hays State University.  She was an associate, American Society of Interior Designers.
She married William Constand Schneider, Dec. 1, 1973. In the 1970s, Roxie and William were shareholders in and later owners of Bob Finch and Associates, Realtors, a Coldwell Banker affiliate.  Roxie also owned and operated RFS Interiors in Hays, and later worked as a designer for Ethan Allen Galleries and also Lazy Boy Galleries in Wichita. Later she worked for American Furniture and Design in Colorado Springs, Colo. She and William made a move to Lee’s Summit, Mo., and created a property management company which managed units for multiple owners. They lived in Lee’s Summit for 20 years, retired and came to Great Bend five years ago.
Survivors include are her husband, of the home; one Amanda Finch Schneider; and two grandsons, William Christopher Schneider and Nicholas Brody Schneider, all of Great Bend. She is also survived by her five brothers-in-law: Bob J. Young of Wichita; Don and Donna Schneider of Charlestown, Ind.; Lee and Carolyn Schneider of Ellinwood; Jay and Terri Schneider of Great Bend; and Jon and Amye Schneider of Bison. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mura Bette Schneider, on April 27; her parents; a sister, Deborah Jean Finch; mother-in-law, Beth Catherine Schneider; and a sister-in-law, Norma Young.      
Graveside inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Mt. Allen Cemetery in Hays. Memorial service will follow at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 2900 Hall Street, Hays, with the Rev. Celeste Lasich officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions to Roxanna’s grandsons’ future education or the donor’s choice may be sent in care of Charter Funerals.
