Russell Leon Snyder 1924 - 2021

ELLINWOOD — Russell Leon Snyder, 97, passed away Oct. 26, 2021 in Pleasanton, Calif. He was born in August, 1924 to Ellis and Marie Snyder in Ellinwood, Kan. Russell grew up in Ellinwood, Kan. He attended and graduated from Ellinwood High School. His favorite sport was football and he loved spending time with his brothers and friends playing the game. 

Russell continued on in life and joined the military. He served in Patton’s Third Army as a Forward Observer and radio man. He also served in the Army of Occupation. Returning home after his tour of duty he became an electronic technician. He later moved to Pleasanton, Calif. and

started his own TV Service shop. 

Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Marie Snyder and a sister, Chloe White, three brothers, Ellis Richard Snyder, Robert Snyder, and Larry Snyder. He is survived by his wife, Lois Mullen Douglas Snyder of Pleasanton; stepson, Scott Douglas of Brentwood, Calif.; stepdaughter. Debra Carter of Dublin, Calif.; three sisters, Colleen Krom of Ellinwood, Kan., Lou Ann Stokley of Hutchinson, Kan., and Karen Melcher of Pratt, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Lakin Comanche Cemetary in Ellinwood, Kan. and burial will take place there as well at a later date.
