OVERLAND PARK — Ryan Steven Ricker, 41, passed away on June 29, 2016, from complications following a bone marrow transplant and his year long battle with leukemia. The Lord has restored his body and freed him of struggle and disease. Ryan was born in Lyons on Dec. 17, 1974. He graduated from Ellinwood High School and Kansas State University.
Ryan began his career at Koch Industries following college. He then worked for Aquila in Kansas City. Ryan took a job with ParterRe in Connecticut and soon met his wife, Kristen. They were married in July of 2004 and soon made their home in Overland Park where Ryan worked for D.E. Shaw & Co. He remained with the company until the time of his death. Ryan and Kristen had two beautiful children that were Ryan’s pride and joy. Ryan enjoyed sports and was an avid KSU Wildcat fan. He loved to travel, eat good food and drink good wine.
He was a member of the Beta Sigma Psi fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Kristen Ricker; daughter, Ruby and son, Wyatt, of the home; parents, Kathy and Clyde Ricker of Raymond; and brother, Mark Ricker (Amy) of Raymond.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, at the Christ Lutheran Church, 11720 Nieman Road in Overland Park. In lieu of flowers Ryan’s family requests memorial contributions to KU Cancer Center or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Mission. Condolences may be expressed at www.porterfuneralhome.com.
