ST. JOHN – Samuel F. Crissman, Jr., age 83, passed away on Sept. 26, 2022 at St. John. He was born on July 13, 1939 on a farm in rural Stafford County, the son of Samuel F. and Melba L. (Harman) Crissman, Jr. He was a farmer, former owner of Valley Irrigation and a drag racer, living and farming near St. John his entire life. He graduated from St. John High School in 1957 and attended some college at Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University. He was a member of the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, Masonic Lodge, board member of St. John Farmers Co-op, board member of Big Bend Groundwater Management District No. 5, FSA County committee member and Sunflower Rod and Custom Assoc. On Sept. 24, 1961 he married Sharon K. Estes at Macksville, KS., she survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Kirby W. (Leah) Crissman, St. John, Kenton E. (Rhonda) Crissman, Troutman, NC; one daughter, Kristene K. (Brian) Brown, St. John, KS; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Crissman, St. John, KS; a brother, Rodney R. (Pat) Crissman, St. John, KS; two sisters, Melita G. (Harold) Schmidt, Newberg, OR., Lynda L. McAllister, St. John; seven grandchildren, Kayla Crissman, Kinser Crissman, Schuyler Brown, Katrena Brown, Kourtney (Tristan) Smith, Kerisa Brown and Erin Crissman. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kerry B. Crissman, and Kelly F. Crissman. Funeral service will be 2 p.m, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at Minnis Chapel, St. John. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, from 1-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, St. John.
