Sandra Jean “Sandy” Sandy

Sandra Jean “Sandy” Sandy, 68, passed away April 17, 2024, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on July 6, 1955, in Nash, Okla., the daughter of Lavene Vadell Cranston. Sandy married Bruce Kilgore; they later divorced. She then married Preston Sandy on April 1, 1996, in Great Bend, Kan. 

A resident of Great Bend since 1993, having grown up in Enid, Okla., and later living in Ellinwood, Sandy worked as a professional bookkeeper for many years at Aaron’s Repair. She was the former vice president of Great Bend Desk and Derrick. Sandy enjoyed bowling, softball, crafts, gardening, and collecting. For 30 years, Sandy also had a passion of breeding and raising Scottish Terriers. The families and individuals who bought Scotties from her often became close friends, whom she continued to keep in touch with for years.  

Survivors include her husband of the home; stepfather, Don Cranston of Wichita; children, Chianna Hemken and husband Brent of Larned, Maria Cavender of Great Bend, Kristopher Kilgore of Ellinwood, and Madisen Woodruff and husband Austin of Ellinwood; stepchildren, Billy Sandy of Great Bend, Corey Sandy and husband Josh of Wichita; sister, Sharon Schartz of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, and sister, Shelli Ehret. 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Friday May 31, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5-7 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on June 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Troy Miller presiding, at Bryant Funeral Home.
