DODGE CITY — Sandra Rae Higgins, 77, died Jan. 31, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born on Aug. 27, 1944 at Russell, the daughter of Lorenzo and Vula (King) Arbuckle.
Sandy was married to Steve Fellers and Charlie Markland prior to marrying Sheldon Higgins on April 13, 1981. She and Sheldon celebrated their 33rd anniversary before he passed away on May 21, 2014. Together they owned and operated a handyman business after her retirement from Walmart.
Sandy was a loving person that always looked at the good in others. She enjoyed watching Nascar and the Kansas City Chiefs. She also loved spending time with her family, including her extended family. She will be forever remembered for her huge heart and her acceptance of all of her bonus family when she didn’t have to.
She is survived by her children, Curtis Arbuckle and wife Melanie, Kerri Fellers and husband Bobby Larman, Erin Martin and husband Randy, and Bryan Higgins; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sisters, Vicki Ritter and husband Darwin, and Sue Scott. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon Higgins; parents, Lorenzo and Vula; and brother, Larry Arbuckle.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Scott Tilley presiding. Burial will take place at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Children’s Miracle Network in care of the funeral home.
