LARNED — Sharolyn J. Triplette Hughes Bennett, 75, passed away Aug. 27, 2021, at Diversicare of Larned, Kan. She was born on Dec. 21, 1945, at Great Bend, Kan., and was adopted and raised by her maternal grandparents, George and Hazel (Spencer) Triplette in Hoisington, Kan. Sharolyn graduated from Hoisington High School in 1963. She loved to keep in contact with all her old classmates and attend class reunions.
Sharolyn was known for knowing everyone. This was due to her many years waitressing at Smokey’s Bar and Kiowa Kitchen. Her latest job was a door greeter at the Dream Center in Great Bend before she took ill. She was a people person and known for her red hair. She never missed her Friday beauty shop appointments. Her favorite hobbies were playing Bingo, crocheting, coffee club, attending local sporting events, and her dogs and cats.
Sharolyn had a daughter Tammy Triplette Voeltz in Oct. of 1968. Tammy is married to Lyle and lives in Lincoln, Kan. They gave Sharolyn three grandchildren, Leslie Voeltz of Osborne, Kan., Sara Voeltz of Lincoln, Kan., and Lucas Voeltz of Lincoln, Kan. Sharolyn married Mike Hughes in 1970 and they had a son Christopher Michael (Red) Hughes in Aug. of 1971. Chris has one son Christopher Dylon Hughes, Jacksonville, Fla., and one stepson Kashe Rhoda, Okla.; Sharolyn had five great grandchildren with one on the way in January 2022; and three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at the First Church of God in Hoisington. A family graveside inurnment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Dream Center in Great Bend, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
