Sherry Jean Stoskopf 1941 - 2018

BERTHOLD, N.D. — Sherry Jean Stoskopf of Berthold, N.D. passed away on June 28, 2018. Sherry was born on May 17, 1941, in Great Bend, Kan., to Thaine and Jean Ewing.
Sherry was a devoted, supportive military wife to her husband Fred Stoskopf, a loving mother, respected educator, admirer of animals and great friend to all.
Sherry received her Master of Arts degree at Fort Hays Kansas State College and was a dedicated English professor that began her teaching career at Colby Junior College. She also taught at Maryville State College, Kenmare High School and Minot State University where she retired after 28 years.
Mrs. Stoskopf enjoyed hiking, dancing, game night with Ron and Mary Landenburger and “get togethers” with close friends. She also enjoyed her travels to Amsterdam and Kenya for visits with her grandson, volunteering with Mandan Amateur Athletic Union Track and Field Club, painting and drawing classes to create illustrations for a children’s book she was working on, the readings of C.P. Snow, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov and ALL things science fiction.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents and her cherished friend of 16 years Goldie her dog and is survived by her beloved husband Fred Stoskopf; daughter Patrina Marie Stoskopf; son John Frederick Stoskopf V; grandsons Jacob Frederick Stoskopf (Severson) and Ryan Patrick Stoskopf (Vashchenko); granddaughter Haven Keeta Grace Stoskopf; and grand-dog Tiny Stoskopf.
Visitation for Mrs. Stoskopf will be July 17, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel at 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth, Kan., and Committal Service to be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery on July 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Leavenworth, Kan. 66048. A Celebration of Life Tribute will be planned for a later date in North Dakota.
