JOPLIN, Mo. — Sheryl Louise Turnbow, 63, Joplin, Mo. passed away on Tuesday at the home of a friend.

Sheryl was born Oct. 3, 1947 in Kansas City, Mo., daughter of Dewey and Louise Ball of Great Bend. She graduated from Great Bend High School, and then earned her bachelor’s degree from Missouri Southern State University in Nursing. She worked for St. John’s Regional Medical Center for over 25 years, working in open heart surgery. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.

She married Russell E. Turnbow on April 26, 1968 in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2009.

In addition to her parents, Sheryl is survived by two sons, Justin A. Turnbow and wife Andrea of Bixby, Okla., Jason E. Turnbow and wife Rindy of Miami, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Keaton, Matthew, Joshua, Maverick, Harley, Kelcie, Samantha, Jacob, Jessica; great-grandchild, Kayden; brothers, Dale Ball and wife Chris of Grove, Okla., and Danny Ball and wife Linda of Great Bend.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Joe Morris officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Humane Society, or the Joplin Tornado Relief Fund.
