Shirley Ann Hoelscher 1944-2016

Shirley Ann Hoelscher, 71, died July 11, 2016, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. Born Oct. 9, 1944, in Pauls Valley, Okla., she was the daughter of Clarence and Daisy Mae (Richardson) Shann. On May 31, 1970, she married Eugene Hoelscher at Salem United Methodist Church in Bushton. A resident of Great Bend since 1999, coming from Bushton, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed sporting events, sewing and cooking.
Mrs. Hoelscher was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Bushton and First United Methodist Church in Great Bend since 1999.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Hoelscher, of the home; four daughters, Lisa Ryan and her husband Jim of Claflin, Rosemary Werdahl of Claflin, Phyllis Johnson of Manhattan, and Rita Hoelscher of Manhattan; two sisters, Frances Zimmerman of Moore, Okla., and Sue Algrim and her husband Gene of Hutchinson; and eight grandchildren, Brandon Werdahl, Lakesha Johnson, Jasmin Johnson, Michael Ryan, Janae Ryan, Devin Ryan, Emily Ryan and Peyton Ryan. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Neva Parker and Betty Lou Shann.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church in rural Bushton with the Rev. Ron Rich and the Rev. Janet Meyers officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., today at Bryant Funeral Home.
