HOISINGTON — Siegfried “Sieg” O. Gutowski, 93, died March 9, 2012 at the Larned Health Care Center in Larned.
Born March 31, 1918 in Waldhausen, East Prussia (Germany), he was the son of Peter and Emelia (Press) Gutowski.
Sieg has been an area resident since 1953 coming from Germany. He married Liesbeth Marianna in 1940 in Waldhausen, Germany. He later married Edna (Dyer) Barnes in 1975 in Hoisington.
He worked and retired from C.O. Mammels Grocery Store. Sieg enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and gardening. His true passion was studying and teaching the word of God.
Mr. Gutowski was a 50-plus year member of the Hoisington Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna, Hoisington; three daughters, Angie Gutowski, Larned; Ilona Caster and husband Mitchell, Wichita; and Brigitte Sander and husband Francis, Jacksonville, Ark.; three step-daughters, Donna Marcellus and husband William, Hoisington, Sarah Marie Johnson and husband Perry, Loveland, Colo., and Cozetta Muth and husband Steve, Salina; two step-sons, Ernest Dyer and wife Jan, Lawrence; and Eddie Dyer and wife Nan, Oklahoma City, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Peter Gutowski; a step-son, Gerald Dyer; two sisters Helga and Gerda; and two brothers, Willie and Ernst.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 12 at the Hoisington Bible Church with the Reverend Gary Clark officiating. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to Hoisington Bible Church (to be used for the missionary fund) or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice both in care of the funeral home.
