Stacey Dawn Martin, 50, died Sept. 8 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born Aug. 3, 1961, at Dodge City, the daughter of Don and Cherie (Nickell) Martin. A Great Bend resident for 30 years, coming from Dodge City, she worked for Central Kansas Medical Center as a phlebotomist.
Ms. Martin was of the Christian faith. She was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved all animals. She was also a foster parent.
Survivors include her father, Don Martin and wife Maxine of California; mother, Cherie Phillips, Great Bend; companion, Larry Nodine of Great Bend; brother-in-law, Bob Shimp of Mohnton, Pa.; two nephews, Kai Shimp and Wyatt Shimp, both of Mohnton; and a niece, Torrey Shimp of Mohnton. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Jerry Phillips; maternal grandparents, Virdie and Doris Nickell; paternal grandparents, Verle and Geneva Jarvis; one sister, Michelle Shimp; and a cousin, Rod Nickell.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Chuck Carpenter officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
