Stella Louise Parker 1940 - 2013

LARNED —  Stella Louise Parker, 73, passed away Dec. 7, 2013 at Wesley Towers Retirement Community in Hutchinson.
She was born Jan. 2, 1940 in Altamont, the daughter of Paul and Nellie Thompson Wood. A long time area resident, she was a Food Service supervisor for the Larned State Hospital.
She was of the Christian faith and a member of the Kansas Consumer Advisory Council for Adult Mental Health, a past president of the Kansas State Firefighters Association Auxiliary, a leader for the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts of America, as well as a district chairman for the Boy Scouts.  She loved going camping, fishing and watching her grandkid’s play sports.
On June 7, 1959 she married Leland Ray Parker in Hutchinson. He passed away March 14, 2005.
Survivors include: three sons, Kenneth R. Parker, Kanopolis, Carl Eugene Parker and wife Julie, Larned, and Gary J. Parker, Colby; a daughter, Marilyn Chism, Garfield; a sister Delores Nicklaus and husband Richard, Hutchinson; two sisters-in-law, Berla Wood, Hutchinson, and Talma Miller, Great Bend, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, one brother, Otis G. Wood, a sister, Goldie Mae Hanson, two grandsons, James Keith Easter and Timothy Alan Parker and a great -granddaughter, Jasmine Marie Chism.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jack Singer presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.  Burial will be at The Larned Cemetery.
