Teresa Marie Rome 1927 - 2014

HOISINGTON — Teresa Marie Rome, 87, died Dec. 9 at her home Hoisington. Born Oct. 23, 1927, in Odin, she was the daughter of Frank and Antoinette (Hermann) Gerritzen. In 1955, she married Norbert Joseph Rome. He died on June 6, 1981. A longtime resident of Hoisington, she worked as a dietary aide for Clara Barton Hospital. She enjoyed playing pinochle and watching her grandchildren’s activities.
Mrs. Rome was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Hoisington.  
Survivors include five sons, Frank Rome and wife Frances of Ellinwood, Robert Rome and wife Debbie, and Michael Rome, both of Hoisington, Raymond Rome and wife Tracy of Ellinwood, and Mark Rome and wife DiAnne of Salina; one daughter, Monica Warnken of Hoisington; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Anthony Gerritzen, William Gerritzen, Peter Gerritzen, Joseph Gerritzen and Louie Gerritzen; and by three sisters, Martha Reeves, Clara Wheeler, and Agnes Gerritzen.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Anselm Eke officiating. Interment will be at the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Hoisington. A vigil and rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John Catholic Cemetery or Clara Barton Foundation in care of the funeral home.
