ELLINWOOD — Teresa “Toni” Batchman, 87, died April 17, 2014, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 19, 1927, at Milwaukee, Wis. Toni graduated from Colorado Springs High School. She married Vernon Batchman on Aug. 5, 1944, at Colorado Springs, Colo. He died Jan. 29, 1995. An Ellinwood resident since 1944, she was a homemaker and artist.
Mrs. Batchman was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Church Choir, Altar Guild, Historical Society and a 4-H judge, all of Ellinwood.
Survivors include two sons, Paul (Susie) Batchman and Chris (Vicki) Batchman, both of Ellinwood; two daughters, Kathleen Batchman, Erie, Colo., and Lisa (Pat) Bryant, Derby; a brother, Frank Gaudes, Troy, Wis.; five grandchildren, Mark Batchman, Michael Batchman, Haley Batchman, Megan Bryant and Katlin Bryant; and three great-grandchildren, Cale Batchman, Alyvia Batchman and Mallory Batchman. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Butler.
Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with the Rev. Debbie Rains officiating. Private family inurnment will be in Lakin Comanche Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Alzheimer’s Foundation or Hospice House, in care of Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons.
