Thad William Starr, 61, passed away March 3, 2021, at his home in Great Bend. He was born April 8, 1959, in Topeka, to Bill and Carol (Pollock) Starr. He married Kimberly Kimber on Sept. 11, 1982, in Great Bend.
A Great Bend resident since 1970, Thad worked in the oil production industry, most recently for American Energy and Trek, LLC, retiring in 2015. He had started his 36 year long career in the oilfield with Morris Chemical and JACAM. Thad enjoyed spending time with his friends on the golf course and playing cards. He especially cherished time spent with his family at the lake house at Kanopolis Lake.
Survivors include, his wife Kimberly Starr of the home; a son, Zachariah Starr of St. Charles, Mo.; his father, Bill Starr of Lyons; a sister Jill Vierthaler and husband Greg of Spearville; and a brother Neal Starr and wife Brenda of Oberlin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Starr.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeff Johnson presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
