Theresa A. Wornkey 1933-2014

WYANDOTTE, Okla. — Theresa A. Wornkey, 81, died July 6, at Memorial Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Born Jan. 12, 1933, in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Matt and Barbara (Hiney) Apel. On April 9, 1953, she married Jim Wornkey in Ellinwood. She was a 15 year resident of Wyandotte, Okla. where she enjoyed her retired years with her husband of over 60 years. Theresa was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her life.
Mrs. Wornkey was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Wornkey of Wyandotte, Okla.; three sons, Mark (Debbie) Wornkey, of Hatboro, Pa., Brian (Christie) Wornkey, of Newcastle, Wyo., and Chris (LuAnn) Wornkey, of Hutchinson; two daughters, Kim (Gary) VanDusen and Leah Beale, both of Wichita; two brothers, Harry Apel of Augusta, and Norman Apel of Great Bend; two sisters, Sally Sigley of Augusta, and Mary Jane Miller of Great Bend; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Barbara Apel; grandparents, Matt and Agnes Hiney; two brothers, LeRoy and Pierre Apel; and son-in-law, Art Beale.
Funeral service/rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Fr. John Forkuoh presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph School Living Legacy Fund in care of the funeral home.
