Thomas LeRoy Wray, 86, died Aug. 25 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 18, 1925 in McLouth, he was the son of Albert and Mabel (Bradford) Wray. A resident of Great bend since 2006, coming from Midwest City, Okla., Amarillo, Texas, Clearfield, Ut. and Kansas City, he was an auto transporter, working for Wood’s Industries, Auto Transport and retiring from Jack Cooper.
Mr. Wray served during the World War II in the Merchant Marines. He had been formerly active in the 32 Degree Masons, Shriners International and the American Legion.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Wray and wife Jana of Great Bend; one daughter, Rochelle Giles of Great Bend; one sister, Sandra Haar of Kansas City; two brothers, Joe Wray of Las Vegas, Nev. and Tim Wray of Rosebud, Ark.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eloise Gail Wray; and three sisters, Eloise Carter, Erma Irwin, Mary White.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery in Overland Park. Memorials are suggested to the Shrine Travel Fund in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
