GREELEY, Colo. — Thomas “Tom” J. Gordon, 91, of Greeley, passed away Jan. 8, 2021, at his home in Greeley.

Tom was born June 22, 1929 in Mountain View, Okla., to Thomas J. and Etta (Murray) Gordon. He married Wynona Webb on Oct. 7, 1951 in Annapolis, Maryland. They were married for 66 years.

He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry. Tom moved to Great Bend, Kan., in 1954. He was the founder and President of Gordon Lab, Inc., an oilfield chemical company, for about 25 years. He was a member and officer of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, and member of the Board of Directors of the American Petroleum Institute, the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and President of the Great Bend County Club. He served as Lay Reader and Senior Warden of St. John’s Episcopal Church, president of the Great Bend Rotary Club and District Governor of Rotary District 5670.

After moving to Greeley in 1993, he served on the board of directors of the Greeley Rotary Club, as well as on the board of directors of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. He served as chairman of the investment committee of the Community Foundation for Greeley and Weld County, and on the investment advisory committee for NCMC, Inc. He also served on the advisory board of the Performing and Visual Arts of UNC. He and his wife were named Honored Alumni of UNC.

Tom was a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army, serving in Korea. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Tom enjoyed golfing, skiing and gardening.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Wine; grandchildren Preston Yoke, Mackenzie Yoke Brown, Chris Medlock and Stacie Walsh; and grandson Joseph Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wynona; and daughter Carol Yoke.

Services will be held outside at Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021.
