PAWNEE ROCK — Tommy Eugene Gray, 68, of Pawnee Rock, Kan., passed away Jan. 29, 2024, at Sterling Village, Sterling. He was born July 8, 1955, in Yale, Okla., the son of Melvin Eugene and Norma Lee (Allen) Gray.
Tommy was a near lifelong Pawnee Rock and Great Bend, Kan. resident. He worked as a derrick hand in the oil field. Tommy enjoyed fishing, canoeing, gardening, tinkering in his shop, and was an avid pool player. On Nov. 24, 1988, Tommy was united in marriage with Carol J. Welker.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Gray of Lyons, Kan.; son, Casey Dulhanty and wife Jenny of Granby, Colo.; daughter, Tara Johnson and husband Nicholas of Lyons, Kan.; two brothers, William Dolezal and wife Jolene of Neb., and Rusty Gray of Hutchinson, Kan.; three sisters, Diane Willesden of Great Bend, Kan., Treasa Hester of N.M., and Kathy Hughes and husband Bob of Mass.; and four grandchildren, Kannon Dulhanty, Keegan Dulhanty, Donna Jo Johnson, and Juliette Johnson. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney Gray; and two sisters, Ruby Byerly and Rhonda Krom.
A celebration of life service will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 at the Eagles in Great Bend, Kan. Burial will be at the Springdale Cemetery, Chase, Kan., at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to Carol Gray to help with expenses in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
