Tonda Lee McAvoy, 59, died May 18 at Woodside Hospice House in Pinellas Park, Fla. Born Sept. 18, 1951 in Johnson, she was the daughter of Pearl and Vanonda Mae (Wise) Miner. On April 2, 2010 she married Terry Lee McAvoy in Pinellas Park, Fla. She was a resident of Largo, Fla. since 2010, coming from Great Bend, formerly residing in WaKeeney and Dallas, Texas. She was a nurse for 25 years and a coast-to-coast truck driver for five years.
Mrs. McAvoy was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Lee McAvoy, of the home; two sons, Craig O’Dell and Kyle King, both of Seagoville, Texas; three daughters, Vanonda Kannady and husband Kevin of Seagoville, Texas, Tammy O’Dell and fiance Jack Neighbors of Great Bend and Amy Robinson and husband William of Ellinwood; three sisters, Bennie Workman of Great bend, Susan Allen of Joplin, Mo., and Ruth Ann Carson of Hot Springs, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Zachary Kannady, Justin Kannady, Cody O’Dell, Allie O’Dell, Jacob O’Dell, Blake Robinson, Thyler Robinson, Gage Asbury, Angel Neighbors, and Landon King. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Miner and Vanonda Marshall; a brother Richard Gray; and a granddaughter, Paige Fagen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffrey Slater officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
