Tony William New

Tony William New, 67, passed away on Aug. 1, 2022, at the University of Kansas Medical Systems – Kansas City. He was born on March 16, 1955 to George and Bettie (Riden) New in McLeansboro, Ill. On April 7, 1984, he married Debra Stoss in Olmitz, Kan. She survives.

A long-time area resident, Tony was a self-employed superintendent and tool pusher in the oilfield, as well as an owner of That New Place in Olmitz. Tony was a member of the Olmitz Volunteer Fire Department. He had a strong passion for work, loved his dog, Bud, and cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. 

Survivors include his wife, Debbie, of the home; two sons, Jim (Kelsey) and Jason (Maddie) New, all of Olmitz; and three grandsons, Jaxson, Mitchell and Maxwell. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandmother, Hazel New; and a brother, Steven.

Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Interment will follow at Saint Anns Cemetery in Olmitz. Memorials have been designated to the Olmitz Volunteer Fire Department or Kans for Kids, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544.
