GREAT BEND — Velma LaVerne Kraft, 85, passed away Nov. 12, 2018, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
She was born Jan. 9, 1933, at Holyrood to James and Mary (Brejcha) Kraft.
Coming from Hays in 1970, Velma was a Great Bend resident. She was retired, having previously worked for Phillips Oil as a bookkeeper and secretary. She was actively involved in politics and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Holyrood. She loved her horses and her dogs, but especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include, daughter, Paula Robinson, Larned; two grandchildren, John Robinson, Hoisington; and Lindsay Penka and husband Tap, Hoisington; and two great-grandchildren, Blair Penka and Merritt Penka, Hoisington.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marc F. Zwenger; and a brother, George Kraft.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Father Ted Stoecklein presiding. Inurnment will be in the Palacky Cemetery, Holyrood, Kan. following. Memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
