Velma V. Stieben 1924 - 2015

OTIS — Velma V. Stieben, 90, died Jan. 17, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born May 28, 1924, in rural Galatia, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna M. (Koch) Miller. In 1942, she graduated from Otis Rural High School. On Aug. 29, 1943, she married Lester M. Stieben at Otis. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2004. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Stieben was a member of the Otis United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women, both of Otis.
Survivors include, her son, Kenneth V. Stieben of Otis; her daughter, Linda D. Stieben of Otis; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Violet Scheuerman of Lakewood, Colo. and Mary Ann Roseberry, Alexander, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Elmer V. Miller, and Irvin H. Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Otis United Methodist Church with the Reverend Janice Farrell officiating. Interment will be at the Otis United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Church visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Otis United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Otis United Methodist Church or the Rush County EMT’s.
