Vernon K. Bednasek 1927 - 2012

HOLYROOD — Vernon K. Bednasek, 85, died Aug. 14 in Salina. Born June 8, 1927 in Ellsworth County, he was the son of John and Rose A. (Borecky) Bednasek. A lifetime resident of the Holyrood area, he was a retired farmer and stockman. On May 20, 1956, he married Alice Wachs in Ellsworth. She survives.
Mr. Bednasek was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood.
Other survivors include three daughters Karen Hickel and husband Doug of Claflin, Cheryl Dahlke and husband Jonathan of Holyrood, and Donna Overmiller of Smith Center; a son Kevin Bednasek of Falun; a brother Kenneth Bednasek of Topeka; 12 grandchildren Dustin, Samantha and Corinna Hickel, Amanda, Jordan and Tanner Dahlke, Brittany, William, Trevor and Gavin Overmiller, and Morgan and Keegan Bednasek; and two great-grandchildren Hagen Hickel and Tathan Bednasek.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from  1-8 p.m. on Thursday with family present 6-8 p.m. at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth. Memorials may be made to the church, in  care if the funeral home.
